I'm a Brazilian dance, performance and research artist based in Aotearoa (New Zealand). Through dance improvisation my practices look at choreography in the expanded field as means to activate an invitation poetics.
In 2018 I have officially founded the art Gathering Abrindo a Sala (Opening the Room), a platform for collaborating with a range of artists from Brazil and beyond. Abrindo a Sala proposes temporary containers for communities to come together - people-creators-[non]artists (are) gather(ed) and (re)organise themselves in projects-situations that aim to broaden perception towards seeing, doing and thinking (im)possible worlds in the pursue of practices of coexistence.
I have been an artist in residence at Lincoln/Argentina (2019); Olhos D’água/GO (2018); Brasília/DF (2018) (2016); Guanajuato/México (2018); and Ipatinga/MG (2013). In parallel to these programmes, I organise a cycle of art residencies in which I directly investigate the relations of invitation poetics in collaboration with local artists in the places I transit. Some of these residencies have been hosted at: Tāmaki Makaurau/NZ (2021/2020); Guaruva/SC (2019); Teresina/PI (2018); Brasília/DF (2018); and Salvador/BA (2017).
I am currently a doctoral researcher in Dance Studies at the University of Auckland, focusing on the notions of art residencies and language transition. In Brazil, I have concluded a Master in Performing Arts by the University of Brasília (UnB), a Specialisation in Dance’s Contemporary Studies by the Federal University of Bahia (UFBA), and a Bachelor (teacher degree) of Dance by the Federal Institute of Brasilia (IFB).
